Our music

The Laroc choir cultivates a varied repertoire, which in the last few years has been directed to Gospel and Latin-American music, often accompanied on different instruments.

Throughout our history, though, it can be said we have practiced nearly all styles of music, from madrigals and "Ensaladas" from the Catalan Renaissance to contemporary authors, going through an English Baroque opera and Romantic German lieder. We have performed and we are still performing themes from Cuban salsa, jazz, rock, and the folklore from half the planet. We have sung in Catalan, Spanish, Latin, French, English, Norwegian, Russian, Zulu...

Some seasons have been devoted to prepare works of a greater importance. Among them we could mention the 147 Cantata by Johan Sebastian Bach, the 117 Psalm by Georg Philip Telemann, Antonio Vivaldi’s Credo, the "Dido & Aeneas" opera by Henry Purcell (conducted by Francesc Llongueres), the Missa Brevis Sti. Joannis de Deo by Josef Haydn, and "Le Roi David" by Arthur Honegger (conducted by Salvador Brotons), all of them with chamber orchestra. We have also performed for the first time the "Perejazzaquí" suite, by Carles Sanz, for choir and jazz quartet.
